Carrying the Love of the Cross – True Brotherly Love
Scripture: Obadiah 1:10-12
“Because of the violence against your brother Jacob, you will be covered with shame; you will be destroyed forever. On the day you stood aloof while strangers carried off his wealth, and foreigners entered his gates and cast lots for Jerusalem, you were like one of them.”

Story: Carrying His Wounded Brother
The night was dark, and the battlefield was littered with ashes. The air was thick with the scent of blood as two brothers ran desperately, pursued by enemies.
Suddenly, an arrow sliced through the night, aiming straight for the younger brother’s back!
In that split second, the older brother threw himself forward, shielding his brother with his own body. The arrow pierced deep into his flesh. He staggered, dropping to one knee as blood gushed from the wound.
“Brother!” The younger one’s voice trembled as he reached out to support him.
Forcing a smile through the pain, the older brother whispered, “I’m fine… leave me and save yourself…”
But the younger brother did not run. His eyes welled with tears, and without hesitation, he bent down and lifted his wounded brother onto his back. His brother’s blood soaked through his clothes, yet he pressed forward step by step.
Onlookers saw them and cried out, “If you carry him, you’ll slow down! Leave him behind, or you both will perish!”
His legs were trembling, his shoulders drenched in blood, but he shook his head resolutely. His voice, though choked with emotion, was unwavering: “This is my brother!”
Every step was excruciating, every movement felt like walking through fire. But he never wavered. No matter how dangerous the path ahead, he would never abandon his brother!
As the first rays of dawn broke through the darkness, their shadows stretched long on the ground, intertwined as if they had become one. The light of the rising sun seemed to bless their unbreakable bond.

Conclusion: Carrying the Love of the Cross, Spreading Christ’s Redemption
Obadiah 1:10-12 speaks of how Edom (Esau’s descendants) stood by indifferently as Israel (Jacob’s descendants) suffered, even taking advantage of their downfall. Yet, in this story, the two brothers chose a different path—the path of sacrificial love, the path of carrying one another.
• The older brother’s sacrifice—He did not hesitate to take the fatal arrow for his younger brother, just as Christ bore the cross for us, shedding His blood for our redemption (John 15:13).
• The younger brother’s commitment—He refused to abandon his wounded brother, carrying him despite his own exhaustion. This reflects Christ’s call for us to “take up our cross” and bear the weight of love and mission (Matthew 16:24).
This story is not just a testimony of brotherly love—it is a reflection of Christ’s redemption. Christ has already taken the arrow of sin for us. Now, it is our turn to carry His love and boldly walk forward.
Today, we may face hardships and challenges, and the “arrows” of life may strike us from all directions. But Christ has paved the way through His sacrifice. Now, it is our calling to take up the cross and spread His love.
Carrying the love of the cross is not easy—but we do it because love never forsakes.
May we all become faithful carriers of this mission, never retreating, never giving up, and walking steadfastly toward the glory that awaits!
