不是控诉,而是邀请;
Hearing the Call of Love Amidst the Fire
Date: April 26, 2025
Scripture:
• Deuteronomy 5:24 — “And you said, ‘Behold, the Lord our God has shown us His glory and His greatness, and we have heard His voice from the midst of the fire; we have seen today that God speaks with man, yet he lives.’”
• Deuteronomy 5:25 — “Now then, why should we die? For this great fire will consume us; if we hear the voice of the Lord our God any longer, then we will die.”

Reflection: A Call of Love and the Fear of Man
That day, the mountain blazed with fire, the clouds churned, and the thunder roared.
The Israelites stood at the foot of the mountain and, for the first time, truly saw—
God was not some distant mirage,
but a God full of glory, yet close to the human heart.
Deuteronomy 5:24 tells us they marveled:
“God could be so glorious, yet so near.
Man could speak with God—and still live!”
It was a call of love:
The voice that came through the fire was not a roar of destruction,
but the cry of a Father, tears in His eyes, calling His lost children:
“Come back to Me. I am waiting for you.”
Yet quickly, Deuteronomy 5:25 reveals the true response of the human heart:
When the glory came near enough to be felt,
fear—not simple trust—rose from deep within.
They feared the fire, they feared the holiness of God,
they feared that their unworthiness would be exposed.
And so they said:
“Let Him not speak directly to us again! It is too terrifying—we will surely die!”
The reason for this drastic contrast was simple:
• God’s intention was to draw near in love (verse 24)
• Man’s reaction was to shrink back in fear (verse 25)
It was just like Adam and Eve hiding after they sinned—
not because God had changed,
but because sin and weakness made them afraid to face a love so deep.

Reflection: An Invitation in the Glory
Today, when we gaze at the vast starry skies,
when we walk through the storms and fires of life,
can we still hear that whisper coming through the flames?
It is not a voice of accusation, but of invitation;
not a burden, but an embrace.
When the fire rises, when the glory appears,
do not hide.
Walk toward the light,
because there, a God who loves you beyond measure
is waiting for your response.
His glory is not meant to destroy you,
but to give you life—and life more abundantly.
