1. “雅比斯求告以色列的神”

“求告”原文带有强烈、恳切的呼喊之意。他的名字意为“痛苦”，但他没有被这个标签定义，而是主动呼求那位信实守约的神，愿神来改写他的人生。

2. “甚愿你赐福与我”

原文中使用双动词“赐福赐福我”，强调他对属天祝福的深切渴望。他知道，真正的翻转，不是靠自己努力，而是出于神的恩典与眷顾。

3. “扩张我的境界”

“境界”不单指土地，也象征生命的范围、影响力与属灵的托付。雅比斯不甘于现状，而是祈求神拓展他人生的界限，使他进入更广阔的命定中。

4. “常与我同在”

2. 你渴望的，是祝福，还是神的手？

我们可以求神扩张我们的生命，但更重要的是——神是否与我们同在？
愿我们像雅比斯一样说：主啊，我不要单有祝福，我要你的手与你的同在！

3. 你是否相信神会应允？

雅比斯的祷告不长，却真挚、直接。今天你也可以如此祷告——神不是遥远的神，而是垂听并行动的神。

三、回应祷告

主啊，我像雅比斯一样，带着破碎与渴望来到祢面前。
我求祢赐福与我，扩张我的境界，
更重要的是：愿祢的手与我同在。
求祢保守我脱离患难，医治我生命中的痛苦，
带我进入你为我预备的丰盛命定。

“Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying, ‘Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from harm so that it might not bring me pain!’ And God granted what he asked.”

I. Verse-by-Verse Analysis

1. “Jabez called upon the God of Israel”

The word “called” in Hebrew conveys a strong and earnest cry. Though his name means “pain,” Jabez did not let that define him. He turned to the God of covenant, trusting that only God could rewrite his story.

2. “Oh that you would bless me indeed”

The Hebrew uses a double verb structure—“bless bless me”—showing his deep longing for divine favor. He recognized that true transformation comes not from effort but from God’s grace and kindness.

3. “Enlarge my border”

The “border” refers not only to land but also to life’s influence, capacity, and spiritual calling. Jabez was not content with his current state; he asked God to stretch his boundaries and lead him into greater purpose.

4. “That your hand might be with me”

Hebrew: wə·tih·yeh yad·ḵā ‘immî
In Scripture, the hand of God symbolizes His presence, power, guidance, and protection.
Jabez understood that without God’s hand, blessings can become burdens—but with His hand, even pain becomes purposeful.

5. “Keep me from harm so that it might not bring me pain”

He asked to be shielded from evil and the sorrow associated with his name. This is a prayer of faith: “God, rewrite my story. Set me free from the sorrow I was born into.”

6. “And God granted what he asked”

This is the most powerful part—God listened and responded. Prayer is not in vain; when it comes from faith, God acts.

II. Spiritual Reflection

1. Will you accept the labels of your past, or surrender them to God?

Like Jabez, we may carry labels like “failure,” “unworthy,” or “wounded.” But prayer invites God to give us a new name and a new story.

2. Do you desire God’s blessings, or His hand more?

It’s not wrong to seek growth, but more importantly—is God with you in the journey?
Let our hearts cry be like Jabez: “Lord, don’t just bless me—let your hand be with me.”

3. Do you believe God will respond?

Jabez’s prayer was short, simple, but sincere—and God answered.
Never underestimate what one honest prayer can do in the hands of a listening God.

III. Closing Prayer

Lord, like Jabez, I come to you with my brokenness and longing.
Bless me, O Lord, and enlarge my borders.
But more importantly—may your hand be with me always.
Keep me from harm, heal the pain within me,
and lead me into the fullness of the destiny you have prepared.
