当神还未回应时,仍说“主啊,我信祢”;
Worship in Spirit and Truth: Insights from the Book of Habakkuk
Date: 26/5/25
Key Scriptures:
John 4:23-24
“The hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship Him.”
Habakkuk 1:2-4; 2:1-4; 3:17-19
⸻
What is Worship in Spirit and Truth?
• Spirit is the breath of the soul, the worship that flows from the depths of our being.
• Truth is without pretense, without masks, an honest and transparent heart before God.
• Worship in spirit and truth means coming to God with our truest selves — not perfect, but real.
God does not look at outward expressions, sounds, or rituals. He seeks a heart that is broken, open, and honest before Him.
⸻
Three Portraits of Worship from the Book of Habakkuk:
- Honest Crying Out — Seeking God Amidst Questions
Habakkuk 1:2
“O Lord, how long shall I cry for help, and You will not hear?”
Habakkuk does not pretend to be strong; he brings his confusion, pain, and anger before God.
Where does true worship begin?
It begins with the courage to say, “Lord, I don’t understand,”
It begins with tearful prayers.
True worship is not about suppressing pain, but bringing our pain honestly before God.
⸻
- Honest Waiting — Trusting God in Silence
Habakkuk 2:1
“I will stand at my watch and station myself on the rampart; I will look to see what He will say to me…”
God responds:
“The vision awaits its appointed time… the righteous shall live by faith.” (Habakkuk 2:3-4)
Worship in spirit and truth is also waiting in faith.
When God is silent, we say, “Lord, I trust You.”
When the problem remains, we say, “Lord, I am waiting for You.”
Worship is not because everything is smooth, but because He alone is worthy.
⸻
- Honest Offering — Singing Even When All is Lost
Habakkuk 3:17-18
“Though the fig tree does not bud… yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will be joyful in God my Savior.”
This is the highest expression of true worship — not because I have received, but because I know who He is.
True worship is not “because I got what I wanted,” but “even if I have nothing, Lord, I still love You.”
⸻
Our Response: Worshiping Him in Spirit and Truth
Dear brothers and sisters,
Are you in a season without answers?
Have you, like Habakkuk, ever asked, “Lord, where are You?”
Do you feel unworthy to worship because you are not perfect or you have many doubts?
Today, God says:
“My child, I do not need your perfection, I desire your honesty.”
Bring your weakness, your brokenness, your tears, and your longings to Me. This is the worship that pleases Me.
⸻
Prayer:
Lord, I often hide my true self, pretending to be strong, pretending everything is fine.
Today I learn: worship is not a performance, but coming to You with an honest heart.
Please accept my broken worship. Strengthen my faith as I wait for You.
Even if I have nothing, Lord, I still choose to worship You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
