📖 Standing at the Doorstep of Promise: Renewing Our Covenant with God
📅 Date: July 1, 2025
⸻
- Introduction: A Turning Point in Life, A Moment to Renew Our Covenant
Dear brothers and sisters,
Have you ever stood at a major threshold in life?
Before you lies new challenges, new stages, and your heart feels both expectant and uneasy.
The Israelites were standing on the east side of the Jordan River, with the land flowing with milk and honey right ahead of them.
At this crucial moment, Moses didn’t rush them forward.
Instead, he paused and delivered a long, heartfelt exhortation—this is the Book of Deuteronomy we have today.
Moses knew: Circumstances may change, but if people’s hearts are not renewed, even the greatest blessings cannot be sustained.
Today, God is saying the same to us:
“My child, before stepping into the next stage, are you willing to realign your heart and renew your covenant with Me?”
⸻
- Remember: Coming This Far Is All Because of God’s Grace
Moses first led the people to look back—
to remember how God had guided, saved, and protected them along the way.
In Deuteronomy 11:4, Moses mentioned:
“What He did to the Egyptian army, to their horses and chariots, how He overwhelmed them with the waters of the Red Sea as they were pursuing you, and He completely destroyed them.”
This was a reminder of the Red Sea miracle.
Moses wanted the people to remember:
“We are alive and standing here today, not by chance, but because of God’s mighty salvation.”
Not just the Red Sea, Moses also recalled God’s provision, protection, and grace throughout the 40 years in the wilderness.
Dear brothers and sisters, isn’t it the same for us today?
How many times has God delivered us from our own “spiritual Red Sea”?
How many times has He made a way when there seemed to be no way?
⸻
- Listen: What God Wants Is Our Heart
Moses then raised a deeper question:
“God doesn’t just care whether you remember His mighty acts; He cares where your heart is right now.”
In Deuteronomy 6:5, it says:
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.”
What God desires is not superficial obedience,
not religious rituals, not cold habits,
but a heart that is genuine, passionate, and willingly loving Him.
Today, God is saying to us:
“My child, what I long for… is your love, your heart, your true response.”
⸻
- Choose: Life or Death, Blessing or Curse
Moses became even more direct:
In Deuteronomy 30:19, he said:
“I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life…”
Brothers and sisters, this is not a vague spiritual concept.
It’s a real-life choice.
Today, with every decision we make:
Will we choose the path of faith?
Or remain stuck in laziness, coldness, and compromise?
Choosing life means choosing to obey God, trust God, and walk in His will.
⸻
- Respond: Today, I Choose to Renew My Covenant
In Deuteronomy 29:12, it says:
“You are standing here in order to enter into a covenant with the Lord your God…”
Dear brothers and sisters,
Maybe you’ve been a believer for many years.
Maybe you were once passionate but have grown cold.
Today, God gives you an opportunity:
“Renew your covenant, start again.”
No matter the past, no matter the failures,
Today can be a new spiritual beginning.
We can say in our hearts:
“Lord, I am willing. Lead me back to You, and help me walk in Your ways.”
⸻
- Conclusion: A New Beginning, Starting from a Covenant Heart
Standing at the doorstep of promise,
We don’t rely on human strength or external circumstances,
But on a heart that is determined and fully committed to following God.
Today, let us choose life, choose blessing,
Choose to walk in God’s covenant.
May God bless each one of us!
