📖 Who Am I?
Seeing My True Identity through the Lens of Obadiah
🗓 Date: July 27, 2025
⸻
1️⃣ I Am Not Defined by Pride, but Called to Walk in Humility
“The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who live in the clefts of the rocks…” (Obadiah 1:3)
Reflection:
God rebuked Edom for their pride, which came from their geographical advantage, self-confidence, and sense of security. We too often define ourselves by outward success, status, or abilities. But God reminds us:
🕊️ “You are not what you accomplish — you are who I have called you to be.”
Who am I?
🔹 I am not my pride
🔹 I am not my résumé
🔹 I am one called to walk humbly with God
⸻
2️⃣ I Am Not a Passive Bystander, but One Responsible for My Heart
“On the day you stood aloof… you rejoiced over the people of Judah… you looted their wealth…” (Obadiah 1:11–13)
Reflection:
When Jerusalem was in trouble, Edom stood by and even took advantage of the situation. Their indifference and gloating were not ignored by God.
Who am I?
🔹 I am not a bystander
🔹 I am one called by God to live with compassion and righteousness
🔹 My identity is revealed by how I respond to the pain of others
⸻
3️⃣ I Am One Destined for Restoration and Inheritance
“But on Mount Zion there will be deliverance; it will be holy, and Jacob will possess his inheritance.” (Obadiah 1:17)
Reflection:
God’s plan does not end in judgment but in restoration and return. He promises that His people will receive their inheritance and worship Him on His holy mountain.
Who am I?
🔹 I am not defined by my past
🔹 I am one restored and chosen by God
🔹 I am an heir of His promise, returning to Zion and His presence
⸻
🪞 Summary Reflection
“Who am I?”
Through the Book of Obadiah, I see:
✅ I am not the product of pride or failure
✅ I am not a cold bystander
✅ I am a person called, refined, and restored by God
⸻
🙏 Closing Prayer:
“Lord, thank You for shining Your light into my heart through the Book of Obadiah. Please remove pride from within me. May I not be a passive bystander but a vessel of Your compassion and justice. Remind me that my identity belongs to You, and my destiny is found in You. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”
