📖 Title: He Sings Because of You: The Echo Stirred by Obedience
🗓 Date: August 1, 2025
📍 Scripture: Zephaniah Chapters 1–3
⸻
🔥 1. Rebellion Separates Us from God and Invites Judgment
“The great day of the Lord is near… I will bring such distress on all people… because they have sinned against the Lord.” (1:14,17)
God’s judgment is not random—it comes because of:
• Idolatry (1:4)
• Self-satisfaction and apathy (1:12)
• Refusing to listen or draw near to God (3:2)
Rebellion isn’t just bad behavior—it’s the breaking of relationship with God, a posture that rejects His presence.
⸻
🧎♂️ 2. The Heart of Disobedience Looks Like This:
“She obeys no one, she accepts no correction, she does not trust in the Lord, she does not draw near to her God.” (3:2)
These four “nots” reveal spiritual numbness:
• Unwilling to listen
• Resistant to correction
• Lacking trust
• Distant from God
A mirror for today’s believers who may be outwardly religious but inwardly distant.
⸻
🌱 3. Obedience Is a Response of Trust and Humility
“But I will leave within you the meek and humble; the remnant of Israel will trust in the name of the Lord.” (3:12)
“Seek the Lord, all you humble… Seek righteousness, seek humility.” (2:3)
God is not looking for external religiosity but for hearts that are soft and seeking Him.
Obedience is not forced surrender—it’s trust in action.
⸻
🕊️ 4. God’s Response: He Rejoices Over You with Singing
“He will rejoice over you with singing.” (3:17)
When you return, trust, and obey, God doesn’t stay silent. He is not angry—He rejoices over you with singing!
What a glorious picture:
A single obedient heart can move God to sing.
⸻
🙏 Response Prayer:
Lord, I don’t want to be someone who refuses to listen, trust, or draw near.
I choose to return, seek, trust, and obey You—make me one You delight in and sing over. Amen.
