Micah and God’s Guidance (with Grace)

October 3, 2025

1. God’s Guidance Includes Judgment, but Also Grace as a Reminder

In the beginning, Micah points out the people’s sins and injustice (1:5; 3:11–12). God uses judgment to awaken His people.

✨ Yet this judgment is not to destroy but to remind in grace — to call people to repentance and back to the right path.

👉 God’s guidance always flows from love. His discipline is for salvation.

2. God’s Guidance Reveals Grace through Restoration

Micah 4:1–2 says: “In the last days the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be established… and many nations will stream to it.”

✨ Even when the people failed, God still promised restoration. That is grace in guidance.

👉 God does not treat us according to our failures, but leads us forward by His promise.

3. God’s Guidance Is Fulfilled in the Messiah as Grace

Micah 5:2 foretells the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem. He is the King who will shepherd His flock.

✨ Jesus is the ultimate grace of God’s guidance: it is not us finding God, but God sending His Son to find us.

👉 The gracious guidance is that Christ Himself becomes the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

4. God’s Guidance Calls Us to Respond with Grace

Micah 6:8 says: “He has shown you, O man, what is good… To act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.”

✨ “To love mercy” means to live out the grace of God. Since we have received grace, we should extend grace to others.

👉 True guidance is a life shaped by grace as a testimony.

5. God’s Guidance Ends with Grace

Micah 7:18–19:

“Who is a God like You, who pardons sin… You will again have compassion on us; You will tread our sins underfoot.”

✨ This is the climax of grace: God does not stay angry forever but delights to show mercy.

👉 God’s guidance ends not in destruction but in forgiveness; not in abandonment but in embrace.

✨ Conclusion

God’s guidance in Micah is:

• Judgment that reminds by grace

• Restoration that reveals grace

• Messiah who fulfills grace

• Calling us to live out grace

• Forgiveness as the final grace

💡 In other words, Micah shows us that God’s guidance is soaked in grace from beginning to end.
