📌 Rise Up: The Call of God

📅 December 5, 2025

“The vision of Obadiah. This is what the Sovereign LORD says about Edom—
We have heard a message from the LORD:
An envoy was sent to the nations to say,
‘Rise, let us go against her for battle.’” (Obadiah 1:1)

The book of Obadiah opens with a powerful spiritual proclamation:
The prophet receives a clear vision from the LORD—
a revelation initiated by God, not produced by human thought.

This message is directed toward Edom,
a nation that stood against God’s purposes through pride and betrayal.
From His throne, God releases His voice;
the prophet hears it and sees that a messenger has been sent out to the nations.

This reveals something significant:
God is not asking one person to fight alone.
He is mobilizing nations, stirring heavenly armies,
and leading His people into a season of confronting pride
and dismantling the powers of darkness.

God’s command is simple yet profound:
“Rise up!”

This is a call not only to the nations,
but also to each one of us.
When God says “rise,”
He calls us to move from passivity to action,
from watching to standing,
from fear to trust.

This is not a battle we fight by ourselves—
it is a battle fought with God,
in step with His already-initiated work.
We do not start the action;
we respond to His voice.

Application
• Is there any “Edom” still standing proudly in my life?
• Is God calling me to rise from an area of sleep, stagnation, or fear?
• Am I willing to become His “messenger,” carrying His call to others?

Prayer:
Lord,
when You call, “Rise up,”
may I no longer remain in past fears or weaknesses.
Let me hear Your voice and follow Your sending,
standing side by side with the heavenly hosts
in Your already victorious movement.
Turn my life toward You,
that I may be one who responds to Your call
and one who carries it to the world.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
