Scripture|Romans 12:19

“Dearly beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather yield and make room for God’s wrath. For it is written, ‘Vengeance is Mine; I will repay, says the Lord.’”

Many years ago, I joined a company as a salesperson for office machines. My performance was good, but there was one painful struggle — a senior colleague constantly mocked me and used harsh words to bully me.

One day, he ordered me,
“Daniel, go wash the fish tank in the showroom.”

I felt deeply hurt and angry.
That task was completely outside my job responsibilities.
Afraid that I might respond impulsively, I fled to the restroom and cried out to God.

In that quiet place, I sensed the Lord whispering into my heart, calling my name: “Daniel.”

Suddenly I remembered what my name means:
“God is my Judge.”

Peace immediately came to my heart.
Justice did not depend on me — it belongs to God.

When I returned to the showroom, unexpectedly, the other colleagues spoke up for me, rebuking the one who had bullied me.

Through this experience, I learned:

When we surrender the right to avenge ourselves,
God will, in His time and His way,
act and bring justice on our behalf.
