在《约书亚记》第四章，以色列人不是偶然过约旦河，
而是在神迹中被带过去；
他们也不是随意立石，
而是 按神的命令 立石。

过河是神的作为，立石是神的吩咐。
神不但关心他们如何进入应许之地，
也关心他们 进入之后会不会忘记是谁带他们进来的。

所以神吩咐他们从河中取出 十二块石头，立在吉甲，
作为 永远的纪念。

这些石头不是装饰，
不是艺术品，
而是一座 属灵的见证碑 ——
是用来 对抗遗忘、抵挡骄傲、保守敬畏 的。

圣经说：

“日后你们的子孙若问：这些石头是什么意思？
你们要告诉他们：以色列人曾走干地过这约旦河。”

这些石头的存在，是为了确保每一代都知道：
这是耶和华的作为。

👉 但圣经更进一步启示我们：
这些“石头”不仅是 记号，
更是指向 那一位真正的磐石。

诗篇说：

“耶和华是我的磐石。”

保罗也说：

“那磐石就是基督。”（林前 10:4）

换句话说：
他们所记念的，不只是一次过河，
而是那位一直托住他们、带领他们、保护他们的神——
祂自己，就是他们的磐石，也是我们力量的磐石。

👉 因此，人真正的危机，
不是还没过河，
而是 过了河之后，不再倚靠那块磐石。

当人忘记磐石，
就会开始倚靠自己；
当人倚靠自己，
信仰就会从 敬畏 变成 形式。

所以神要他们立石，
不是叫他们拜石头，
而是 透过石头，记住那位永不动摇的磐石。

而在新加坡河边，也有一块石头：

🪨 Early Founders Memorial Stone（早期开埠纪念石）

它立在那里，是因为：
1819 年，从这条河开始，新加坡进入了一个全新的历史阶段。

对照非常清楚：
• 以色列：在「河边」立石，记念 神带他们进入应许之地
• 新加坡：在「河边」立石，记念 国家命运的起点

河，标记转换；
石头，标记记忆；
磐石，标记真正的根基。

所以今天，当我们站在 2026（26 谐音“河流之年”） 的门口，
再一次谈「河」、「石头」、「磐石」，
不是为了气氛，
而是为了问一个根本问题：

我们这一代，究竟是记念神，
还是已经悄悄开始只倚靠自己？

因为：
唯有磐石不动摇，
河水可以改变方向，
但磐石永远不变。

主啊，
你不只是带我们过河的神，
你也是我们力量的磐石。
求你使我们无论走多远，
都不忘记你的作为，
也不离开你的根基。
使我们这一代，
不只立纪念石，
更一生站在磐石上。

🪨 “Stones of Remembrance by the River: From the Jordan River to the Singapore River”

“These stones are to be a sign among you… to be a memorial to the people of Israel forever.” (Josh 4:6–7)

“So that all the peoples of the earth may know that the hand of the Lord is mighty, and so that you may fear the Lord your God forever.” (Josh 4:24)

“The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer… my God is my rock.” (Ps 18:2)

🌊 Sharing

In Joshua chapter 4, the Israelites did not cross the Jordan River by coincidence,
but were brought across through a miracle.
And they did not set up the stones casually,
but according to the command of God.

Crossing the river was God’s work.
Setting up the stones was God’s instruction.

God was not only concerned about how they entered the Promised Land,
He was also concerned about whether they would forget who brought them there after they had entered.

So God commanded them to take twelve stones from the river
and set them up at Gilgal
as a lasting memorial.

These stones were not decorations.
They were not works of art.
They were a spiritual monument of testimony —
meant to resist forgetfulness, guard against pride, and preserve reverence.

Scripture says:

“In the future, when your children ask you, ‘What do these stones mean?’
tell them, ‘Israel crossed the Jordan on dry ground.’”

The purpose of these stones
was to make sure every generation would know:
This is the work of the Lord.

👉 But Scripture reveals something even deeper:
These “stones” are not only signs,
they also point to the true Rock.

The Psalms say:

“The Lord is my Rock.”

And Paul says:

“That Rock was Christ.” (1 Cor 10:4)

In other words,
what they were remembering was not merely one crossing of a river,
but the God who had always upheld them, led them, and protected them —
He Himself is their Rock, and He is also the Rock of our strength.

👉 Therefore, the real crisis of man
is not failing to cross the river,
but crossing the river and no longer relying on the Rock.

When people forget the Rock,
they begin to rely on themselves.
And when people rely on themselves,
faith slowly shifts from reverence to mere formality.

That is why God told them to set up stones —
not to worship the stones,
but through the stones, to remember the unshakable Rock.

And by the Singapore River, there is also a stone:

🪨 The Early Founders Memorial Stone

It stands there because:

In 1819, from this river, Singapore entered a completely new chapter of history.

The parallel is clear:
• Israel: set up stones by the river to remember God bringing them into the Promised Land
• Singapore: set up a stone by the river to remember the beginning of the nation’s destiny

The river marks transition.
The stones mark memory.
The Rock marks the true foundation.

So today, as we stand at the threshold of 2026 (with “26” sounding like “river” in Chinese),
and once again speak of the river, the stones, and the Rock,
we are not doing this for atmosphere,
but to ask a fundamental question:

In our generation, are we still remembering God,
or have we quietly begun to rely only on ourselves?

Because:

Only the Rock does not move.
The river may change its course,
but the Rock never changes.

🕊 Concluding Declaration

Lord,
You are not only the God who leads us across the river,
You are also the Rock of our strength.
Grant that no matter how far we go,
we will never forget Your works
and never depart from Your foundation.
May our generation
not only set up stones of remembrance,
but live our whole lives standing upon the Rock.
