📖「你们若寻求我,就必寻见;

🌿 Why Does God Seem Absent?
📅 January 23, 2026
📖 Scripture: 2 Chronicles 7:14

🌿 Be Still for a Moment

Lord,
today I come before You,
not to look for answers,
but to let You shine Your light into my heart.

Sometimes,
I can’t help but ask:

Why do my prayers seem to have no reply?
Why does my heart feel colder and colder?
Why do You seem so far away?

But I know,
the one who truly needs to be questioned
is not You,
but myself.

🌿 Think About the Stories in 2 Chronicles

2 Chronicles repeats the same pattern again and again:

When people:
• stop seeking God
• shut the doors of the temple
• keep only the shell of religion

👉 It is not that God is absent,
but that the human heart has left Him first.

God says:

📖 “If you seek Me, you will find Me;
but if you forsake Me, I will forsake you.” (2 Chr. 15:2)

This is not a threat,
but a spiritual reality.

🌿 The Most Frightening Thing Is Not the Absence of the Temple

In the days of Ahaz:
• the temple was still there
• the priests were still there
• the rituals were still there

But Scripture says:

📖 “He shut the doors of the house of the Lord.” (2 Chr. 28:24)

When the doors were shut,
it was not that God left—
it was that people no longer wanted God.

Today it can be the same:

The gatherings are still there,
the songs are still there,
the sermons are still there,
but the heart… is no longer there.

🌿 But Will God Really Leave Forever?

No.

Look at Manasseh.

He was a terribly wicked king—
he worshiped idols, practiced sorcery,
and defiled the temple of God.

But the Bible says:

📖 “In his distress he sought the favor of the Lord his God and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers… and God was moved by his entreaty.” (2 Chr. 33:12–13)

👉 It turns out that God is not waiting for people to become better,
but waiting for them to turn back.

🌿 God Has Long Made the Way Clear

📖 “If My people who are called by My name humble themselves, pray, seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.” (2 Chr. 7:14)

It is not:

God, You come first.

But:

I humble myself first,
I turn back first,
I seek You first.

👉 God’s presence is always a response to repentance.

🌿 So Today, I No Longer Ask:

“Why does God seem absent?”

I only gently ask myself:

Is my heart
still with God?

🙏 Today’s Prayer

Lord,
if I have pushed You aside,
please forgive me.

If I am still attending gatherings
but no longer longing for You,
please awaken me.

Today,
I do not ask You to come closer to me.
I only ask:
bring me back to Your presence.

In the name of the Lord Jesus, Amen.
