🌿 Limited Bread, Yet Not Lacking God
📅 February 4, 2026 · Daily Devotional
📖 Ezekiel 4:9–11
Take wheat and barley, beans and lentils, millet and spelt,
put them into one vessel and make bread for yourself…
Eat it by measure day by day,
and drink water at set times.
⸻
🌙 Devotional
This is a very unusual passage.
What God gave the prophet to eat
was not a rich feast,
but rationed food.
Limited.
Measured.
Given day by day.
It is a picture of a city under siege —
when people drift from God, life begins to shrink,
and abundance turns into mere survival.
Yet hidden inside this judgment
is a quiet grace:
Even in the symbol of discipline,
God still arranges daily provision.
Not total destruction,
but preserved life.
It echoes the manna in the wilderness:
not warehouse security,
but learning trust every single day.
Sometimes God does not lead us
into immediate abundance,
but into deeper dependence.
We often fear limitation,
and forget:
limited resources
can carry unlimited presence.
When a person learns to live simply,
the heart becomes clear again:
what sustains life
is not the amount of bread,
but the hand of God.
⸻
🙏 Prayer
Lord,
when life is not as abundant
as I expected,
teach me to see
that You are still providing.
Help me learn gratitude in limitation,
and trust in daily measure.
Do not let me chase more
and miss what You have already given.
May Your presence
become my true bread.
Amen.
