🌿 Presence in the Midst of Running

📅 February 16, 2026
📖 Book of Zechariah 1:3; 3:4; 4:6; 14:20

“Return to Me, and I will return to you,” says the Lord. (1:3)

“I have taken away your sin, and I will put rich garments on you.” (3:4)

“Not by might nor by power,
but by My Spirit,” says the Lord. (4:6)

“On that day the bells of the horses will be inscribed:
‘Holy to the Lord.’” (14:20)

🌙 Reflection

New Year’s Eve is a moment standing on a threshold of time.

The old year behind us,
the new year ahead.

Through cleaning, new clothes, reunion meals, staying awake,
and hanging red at the door,
people express a deep longing:

May the new season be safe, protected, renewed.

Zechariah reminds us
that true renewal is not a change of calendar
but a turning of the heart.

When we return to God,
He returns to us.

The past is cleansed.
Identity is restored.
Not by human strength,
but by His Spirit.

Then the prophet sees a startling vision:

even the bells of the horses —
ordinary objects of busy movement —
are engraved with one phrase:

Holy to the Lord.

This means:

holiness is no longer confined to the temple.
Holiness enters daily life.

Our steps, our work, our running, our sounds
can belong to God.

As we enter the symbol of the Year of the Horse,
it reminds us:

life is moving forward —
but we are not running alone.

Peace is not found in speed,
but in presence.

Immanuel — God with us.

We do not meet God only when we stop,
but in the very act of running.

The red at the door seeks protection;
God gives something deeper:

His presence.

New Year’s Eve is not escaping the past,
but handing the past to God
so the future bears His name.

The true new year is not outward celebration
but inward consecration:

Holy to the Lord —
running with God beside us.

🙏 Prayer

Lord,
as I cross this threshold of time,

may my steps,
my work,
my running

bear one inscription:

Holy to the Lord.

As I enter the new year,
remind me:

I do not move forward alone —
You are with me.

Cleanse the past,
guide the future,

and let me run in Your presence.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
