不是毁灭,而是洁净;

成为施行神迹的权杖;

却不毁坏我的生命;

🌿 The Fire in the Bush (When the Holy Meets the Ordinary)

📅 March 18, 2026 | Wednesday

📖 Today’s Scripture

“So Moses thought, ‘I will go over and see this strange sight—why the bush does not burn up.’”
— Exodus 3:3

✨ Devotional

In the wilderness of Midian, Moses had spent forty quiet and obscure years.

Day after day he tended sheep—
wind, sand, and endless desert.

Perhaps he thought
his life would simply fade away in the wilderness.

Until that day—

He saw a bush on fire.
The flames were burning, yet the bush was not consumed.

When Moses saw this extraordinary sight, he did not walk past it.
He stopped and said:

“I will go over and see.”

That step seemed small, yet it became a step that changed history.

Often, God’s work does not begin in dramatic moments,
but in the quiet spaces of ordinary life.

God is waiting—
waiting for someone willing to stop and turn aside to see.

A thornbush is a humble plant.

It is rough, thorny, and often ignored,
growing unnoticed in the wilderness.

Yet God did not choose a mighty cedar tree,
nor did He appear in a magnificent palace.

He chose to reveal His glory in a thornbush.

This reveals a profound truth:

God’s fire does not choose vessels based on their status.

His calling does not come because we are perfect.
Often it comes when we recognize our own weakness, ordinariness, and brokenness.

As Scripture reminds us:

“My power is made perfect in weakness.”

Even more remarkable—

The fire burned,
yet the bush was not consumed.

This symbolizes the presence of God:

not to destroy, but to purify;
not to consume, but to fill.

When God’s fire touches a life,
He does not annihilate us.

Instead, He refines us and makes us vessels that carry His glory.

When Moses drew closer,
God’s voice spoke from the fire.

From that moment—

The shepherd’s staff
became a rod of miracles.

The fugitive of the wilderness
became the deliverer of a nation.

God’s calling began
with Moses taking one step closer.

Today,
God may also be lighting a “burning bush” in your life.

Perhaps it is a passage of Scripture that stirs your heart,
a growing burden in prayer,
or a moment when God gently calls your attention.

Do not ignore these sacred moments.

May we respond like Moses and say:

“Lord, I will go over and see.”

Because many times,
God’s calling is hidden in the step we take toward Him.

💡 Practice for Today

Pay attention to one “unusual moment” today.

It could be a word, an encounter, or a stirring in your heart.

Pause and pray:

“Lord, what are You saying to me?”

🙏 Prayer

Dear Lord,

Thank You for revealing Yourself even in the ordinary days of life.

Give me a sensitive heart
to recognize Your work in the wilderness of daily living.

When Your fire begins to burn in my life,
help me not to ignore it, retreat from it, or resist it.

Give me courage to draw near
and listen to Your gentle voice.

May Your holy fire burn away my coldness
without destroying my life.

Renew me, purify me,
and use this humble vessel for Your glory.

In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
