Being Young Is a Blessing—Rising Amid Revival
Date: May 6, 2025
Scripture: Ezra 3:10–13
“When the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the Lord, the priests in their vestments with trumpets, and the Levites (the sons of Asaph) with cymbals, took their places to praise the Lord, as prescribed by David king of Israel… But many of the older priests and Levites and family heads, who had seen the former temple, wept aloud when they saw the foundation of this temple being laid, while many others shouted for joy.”
- Being Young Is a Blessing Because We Stand on a ‘New Foundation’
The Israelites returned from exile and began rebuilding the temple. The younger generation may never have seen Solomon’s grand temple, yet they bravely took part in constructing the new one. They did not rely on past experiences but stepped forward with hope for the future.
Spiritual Application: Today’s young people may not have witnessed past revivals, but God calls them to lay new spiritual foundations.
- Being Young Is a Blessing Because We Have Pure Worship and Hunger for God
In the passage, some wept while others rejoiced. The elders cried, remembering past glory, but the young celebrated the restoration before them. A young heart is more inclined to simply believe that God is doing something new.
Spiritual Application: Young people bring not just energy but also a faith in God that knows no limits.
- Being Young Is a Blessing Because We Are Willing to Answer the Call of Our Time
Later in Ezra, many young Levites, scribes, and disciples started learning the law, serving in the temple, and worshiping God. They did not act out of tradition but responded to the calling.
Spiritual Application: In every era needing spiritual rebuilding, God always raises up young people willing to respond.
Conclusion & Reflection:
We may not be Israelites freshly returning from exile, but in the midst of today’s chaos and restoration, God still seeks those willing to offer themselves. Will you be one who bravely responds to His call and participates in rebuilding?
“Being young is a blessing—not because of age, but because of a heart willing to be used by God.”
Prayer Response:
Lord, thank You for the young hearts among us. I ask that You grant me a heart that remains young in spirit, ready to rise in response to Your calling. May I not limit myself by age, but give my strength to Your work, becoming part of Your plan for revival. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
