Title: Those Who Remain Are Not the Strongest

2026 July 7 Devotional

Scripture

“He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us again. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us.”
— 2 Corinthians 1:10

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’”
— 2 Corinthians 12:9

Imagine life as a journey with one challenge after another. Each stage brings new tests, new pressures, and new opportunities to persevere. Some give up under pressure, some retreat after disappointment, and some stumble because of pride.

In the end, are those who remain simply the smartest, the most capable, or the strongest?

The apostle Paul gives us a different answer in 2 Corinthians.

He wrote, “He has delivered us… He will deliver us again… He will continue to deliver us.” Later, he also received these words from the Lord: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

The reason we endure is not because of our own strength, but because of God’s continual deliverance and His all-sufficient grace.

God does not always remove every difficulty immediately, but He promises to be with us in every trial. He does not promise that we will never feel weak, but He does promise grace that is sufficient to carry us through.

When we look back, we see His deliverance. As we face today, His grace sustains us. As we look toward tomorrow, we remain full of hope because He will continue to rescue, guide, and uphold us.

Life is not a competition to prove how strong we are. It is a journey of learning to depend on God’s grace. Those who finish the race are not those who never fall, but those who experience God’s hand lifting them up every time they do, and who discover again and again that His grace is always enough.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for delivering me in the past, sustaining me today, and leading me into the future. Thank You for promising that Your grace is sufficient and that Your power is made perfect in my weakness. Help me not to rely on my own strength, but to trust in Your grace each day. Keep me faithful as I follow You until I have finished the race You have set before me. Amen.

Grace does not remove every challenge—it enables us to stand firm through them. Deliverance is not just a one-time event; it is God’s ongoing work in our lives, day after day.
