“凡越过基督的教训不常守着的，就没有神；常守这教训的，就有父又有子。”

约翰写这句话时，教会正受到假教师的影响。他们并不是完全否认神，而是偏离了关于基督真实身份和福音真理的教导。

这里的“越过”不是属灵生命不断成长，而是离开、超越、偏离基督已经启示的真理。人若追求所谓“更高的启示”“更新的真理”，却离开了基督的教训，就已经偏离了神。

今天，我们生活在一个资讯爆炸的时代，各种声音都说自己掌握了真理。但圣经提醒我们，真正的属灵成熟，不是不断寻找新的道理，而是忠心持守基督已经启示的话语。

“常守”原文有住在、持续停留的意思。不是偶尔遵行，而是让基督的话成为每天生活的根基。正如主耶稣所说：

“你们若常常遵守我的道，就真是我的门徒。”（约8:31）

当我们住在基督的话里，就住在父和子的爱里，也与神保持真实、亲密的关系。

今日默想

我所追求的是新奇的知识，还是更深地认识基督？

我每天是否住在神的话语中，让真理引导我的思想、言语和行为？

今日祷告

亲爱的天父，感谢祢借着圣经把真理启示给我们。求祢保守我的心，不随从错误的教导，也不追逐人的智慧，而是常常住在基督的话语里。愿圣灵帮助我天天爱慕真理、遵行真理，使我一直与父和子同行，直到见主面的日子。奉主耶稣基督的名祷告，阿们。

Abide in Christ’s Teaching, Abide in God

2 John 1:9

“Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.”

Devotional

When John wrote these words, the church was being influenced by false teachers. They did not completely deny God, but they had departed from the truth concerning the true identity of Christ and the gospel.

The phrase “runs ahead” does not refer to growing spiritually. Rather, it means to go beyond, depart from, or abandon the truth that Christ has already revealed. When people pursue what they call “higher revelation” or “new truth” while leaving behind Christ’s teaching, they have already wandered away from God.

Today, we live in an age overflowing with information, where countless voices claim to possess the truth. Yet Scripture reminds us that true spiritual maturity is not found in constantly seeking something new, but in faithfully holding fast to the teaching that Christ has already revealed.

The word “continue” (or “abide”) carries the idea of remaining, dwelling, and persevering. It is not about obeying God’s Word only occasionally, but allowing Christ’s teaching to become the foundation of our daily lives. As the Lord Jesus said:

“If you abide in My word, you are truly My disciples.”
— John 8:31

When we abide in Christ’s Word, we abide in the love of the Father and the Son, enjoying a genuine and intimate relationship with God.

Reflection

• Am I pursuing novel ideas, or am I seeking to know Christ more deeply?
• Do I abide daily in God’s Word, allowing His truth to shape my thoughts, words, and actions?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for revealing Your truth to us through Your Word. Guard my heart from false teaching and from chasing after human wisdom. Help me to abide continually in the teaching of Christ. May the Holy Spirit give me a growing love for Your truth and the strength to live it out each day. Keep me walking closely with the Father and the Son until the day I see my Lord face to face.
