Write Down the Vision, Run Toward the Promise
25 June 2026 – Devotional
Scripture:
Habakkuk 2:2
“Then the Lord replied: ‘Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it.’” (NIV)
When Habakkuk was confronted with a nation in turmoil and questions he could not answer, he chose to wait before God. God’s first response was not to explain everything immediately, but to tell him:
“Write down what I have revealed to you.”
God knows that people forget. Circumstances change. Faith is often tested. That is why He instructed the prophet to record the vision—not only as a reminder for himself, but also so that others could clearly see it.
“Make it plain” can also be understood as “so that whoever reads it may run with it.” The vision was to be written so clearly that even someone running past could grasp it at a glance.
We live in a fast-paced world today. Many people have little time to stop and reflect on life, yet they are still searching for purpose and direction. That is why God’s Word, His promises, and the testimonies of His faithfulness need to be communicated with clarity.
Sometimes God has already placed a burden or vision in our hearts, yet we delay because we are waiting for the “perfect” moment. At other times, He has already given us direction, but because our circumstances have not yet changed, we begin to question His promises.
But God reminds us:
Write it down first, then faithfully hold on to it.
The vision may not be fulfilled immediately, and the promise may not come to pass overnight, but God never forgets what He has spoken.
As the next verse declares:
“For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.” (Habakkuk 2:3)
Today, take time to write down the things God has spoken to your heart. It may be a dream, a Bible verse, a calling, or a personal promise He has given you.
One day, as you look back, you will see that God has been faithfully leading you every step of the way.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for speaking to Your people. Help me treasure the visions, promises, and promptings You have given me. May I never take them lightly or forget them. Even when I cannot yet see them fulfilled, strengthen me to wait in faith and remain faithful. Let my life become a vessel that carries Your vision, and give me the courage to run the path You have prepared for me.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
