God’s Postman, Keep Moving Forward

Devotional – July 18, 2026

Scripture

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith… Consider Him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart… My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when He rebukes you.”

— Hebrews 12:1–5

A Picture

A picture appeared before my eyes.

A postman was walking along a long road with a heavy mailbag on his shoulder. He carried an important assignment, yet every step became heavier. Weariness, failure, and loneliness beat against his heart like wind and rain. He even began to wonder if he could keep going.

Just as he was about to stop, he lifted up his head.

The road ahead was still long, but his heart was renewed with strength because he knew that the Lord who had called him had never left him and was still walking with him.

So he picked up his mailbag once again and continued his journey.

As he walked on, he met another person who was equally weary and on the verge of giving up. That person’s name was “God’s People.”

This time, the postman did not remain focused on his own weakness. Instead, he shared the strength he had received from the Lord, reached out his hand to lift the other person up, and said with confidence:

“Don’t give up. Keep moving forward. The Lord has not forgotten you, nor has He withdrawn His calling from your life.”

Reflection

This picture reminded me of Hebrews 12.

The Bible does not first tell us to run faster. Instead, it reminds us of three things.

🧭 Lay Aside Every Burden

Many times, what causes us to stop is not that the mission is too great, but that our hearts have grown weary. Worry, pressure, self-condemnation, and disappointment pile up until we forget that the Lord is still walking beside us.

👀 Fix Our Eyes on Jesus

Jesus endured the suffering of the cross and the rejection and shame of men, yet He remained faithful to the end. Scripture says:

“Consider Him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”

When we fix our eyes on Him again, His strength fills our hearts once more.

🌱 Embrace the Father’s Discipline

God’s discipline is not rejection—it is loving transformation. He is not trying to stop us but to shape us into the likeness of Christ. His correction is not meant to crush us but to strengthen us so we can continue the race He has set before us.

Encouragement

Perhaps today, many of God’s people feel just like that postman—tired, discouraged, and wondering whether they can still fulfill God’s calling.

Yet today, God says to His people:

Don’t give up. Keep moving forward.

Lay aside every burden and fix your eyes on Jesus.

Do not retreat because of temporary weakness.

Do not lose heart because you cannot yet see the results.

The Lord who called you will personally uphold you, strengthen you, and lead you to finish the race He has prepared for you.

And when your own strength has been renewed, be like that postman.

Reach out to another weary child of God. Share the comfort, hope, and faith you have received from the Lord.

For God’s people are not called to run alone. In Christ, we encourage one another, support one another, and press on together toward the finish line.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for strengthening me with Your Word whenever I grow weary.

Help me to lay aside every burden that does not come from You. Teach me to keep my eyes fixed on Jesus so that I will not lose heart or turn back because of difficult circumstances.

Make me a bearer of hope. May I share the strength and comfort I have received from You with every weary child of God.

Help us to encourage one another, never give up, never retreat, and run with perseverance the race You have set before us until we faithfully complete the calling You have entrusted to us.

In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
