2026年8月27日｜灵修经文：约拿书 3:4–5

“再等四十日，尼尼微必倾覆了！尼尼微人信服神，便宣告禁食，从最大的到至小的都穿麻衣。”

约拿进入尼尼微城，所传的信息非常简单，却带着强烈的紧迫感：

“再等四十日。”

这是一个倒计时。

四十天听起来还有时间，但尼尼微人没有说：“还有四十天，不急。”他们听见之后，马上回应。

因为真正明白时间宝贵的人，不会把今天可以回应的事留到明天。

约拿自己其实也经历过这个功课。

第一次，神对他说：“你起来，往尼尼微大城去。”他却往相反的方向逃跑。直到经历风浪和大鱼之后，神第二次对他说：

“你起来，往尼尼微去。”

这一次，约拿起来就去了。

有时候，我们以为拖延只是晚一点开始，但约拿的经历提醒我们：当神催促的时候，时间本身可能就是信息的一部分。

尼尼微有四十天，

约拿有第二次机会，

而我们并不知道自己还有多少时间。

有些事情，神已经提醒很久了；

有些人，需要我们及时去关心；

有些话，需要趁还有机会说出来；

有些呼召，不应该一直停留在“以后”。

不要等到第四十天，才做第一天就应该做的事。

今天若再次听见那句话——

“你起来。”

愿我们不再逃往他施，而是起来，走向神要我们去的地方。

祷告：

主啊，求你让我看见时间的宝贵，也让我对你的声音保持敏锐。当你说“起来”的时候，赐我立即回应的心，不因惧怕、安逸或自己的计划而拖延。让我珍惜你所给的每一个机会，在还可以回应的时候回应，在还可以行动的时候行动。阿们。

“Don’t Wait Until the Fortieth Day”

August 27, 2026 | Devotional Scripture: Jonah 3:4–5

“Forty more days and Nineveh will be overthrown.” The Ninevites believed God. They proclaimed a fast, and all of them, from the greatest to the least, put on sackcloth.

When Jonah entered Nineveh, his message was simple, yet it carried a strong sense of urgency:

“Forty more days.”

It was a countdown.

Forty days might sound like there was still plenty of time. But the people of Nineveh did not say, “We still have forty days. There’s no hurry.” Instead, they responded immediately.

Those who truly understand the value of time do not leave until tomorrow what they can respond to today.

Jonah himself had already learned this lesson.

The first time God said to him, “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city,” Jonah ran in the opposite direction. But after going through the storm and the great fish, God spoke to him a second time:

“Arise, go to Nineveh.”

This time, Jonah got up and went.

Sometimes we think delay simply means starting a little later. But Jonah’s experience reminds us that when God is urging us to move, the timing itself may be part of the message.

Nineveh was given forty days.

Jonah was given a second chance.

But we do not know how much time we have.

There may be things God has been reminding us about for a long time.

There may be someone we need to reach out to while there is still time.

There may be words that need to be spoken while we still have the opportunity.

There may be a calling that should no longer remain something we will do “someday.”

Don’t wait until the fortieth day to do what you should have done on the first.

Today, if we hear those words again—

“Arise.”

May we no longer run toward Tarshish, but rise and go where God is calling us.

Prayer:

Lord, help me recognize how precious time is and keep my heart sensitive to Your voice. When You say, “Arise,” give me a heart that responds without delay. Do not let fear, comfort, or my own plans hold me back. Help me treasure every opportunity You give me—to respond while I still can and to act while the opportunity is still before me. Amen.
