Title: No Longer Proving Yourself by Rules
Date: May 6, 2026
[Colossians 2:20] Since you died with Christ to the elementary principles of this world, why, as though you still belonged to the world, do you submit to its rules: “Do not handle, do not taste, do not touch”?
Sometimes we think faith is about “not doing wrong,” so we begin to measure ourselves by many standards—if we do well, we feel a bit at ease; if we fail, we start to doubt ourselves. Slowly, our hearts become bound by an invisible pressure, as if we must keep performing to be accepted.
But this verse reminds us: that’s not how you live anymore. “Dying with Christ” is not just an abstract idea—it means the old way of proving yourself through performance has ended. You no longer need to use “doing enough” to earn your worth, because it is not by yourself, but by grace.
Those “do not handle, do not taste, do not touch” rules may look spiritual, but they easily pull us back into an outward form of faith—replacing relationship with rules, and reality with appearance.
👉 True freedom is not “being free to do anything,” but “no longer needing to prove yourself by what you do.” It is not by yourself, but by grace.
When you stop trying to prove yourself, you begin to realize—you have already been accepted.
Today, you don’t need to do more to be loved. Just pause, be still before Him for a moment. Perhaps you will hear that gentle voice again: you are already in.
