等待,不是空白;
The Preparation of Pentecost
24 May 2026 Devotion
Leviticus 23:15–16
“‘From the day after the Sabbath, the day you brought the sheaf of the wave offering, count off seven full weeks. Count off fifty days up to the day after the seventh Sabbath, and then present an offering of new grain to the Lord.’”
Pentecost is not just a festival.
It is a story of harvest after waiting.
God did not bring His people immediately into the harvest.
He first told them to count the days.
One day, two days, ten days, twenty days… until fifty.
This reminds us:
God’s work often has a process.
Harvest does not happen suddenly.
It comes through waiting, preparation, and trust, until His appointed time arrives.
Originally, Pentecost was a celebration of harvest.
The people brought the firstfruits to God, acknowledging that every provision came from Him.
In the New Testament, Pentecost became the day the Holy Spirit was poured out.
What was once an earthly harvest became a spiritual harvest.
What was once an offering of firstfruits became God giving His Spirit.
Many times, we are also “counting days.”
Waiting for an answer,
waiting for a turning point,
waiting for a breakthrough.
But Leviticus reminds us:
waiting is not emptiness;
waiting is where God prepares the harvest.
Maybe it feels too long.
Maybe it seems like God is silent.
But not a single day is wasted.
God knows when the harvest is ready,
and He knows when to send His wind.
Today, perhaps you are still counting down.
But do not lose heart.
Because Pentecost reminds us:
the end of waiting may be the beginning of an outpouring of grace.
Prayer:
Lord, when I am in a season of waiting, help me not to lose heart.
When I cannot see change, give me a heart that continues to trust You.
Help me believe that You are preparing me, and also preparing Your perfect timing.
May my waiting not be filled with anxiety, but with hope.
Amen.
