在人眼中太少;
“The Victory of the Three Hundred”
Devotional — May 28, 2026
Judges 7:7
“The Lord said to Gideon, ‘With the three hundred men who lapped I will save you and give the Midianites into your hands. Let all the others go home.’”
This verse is unusual.
Because God did not make the army larger—
He reduced it step by step.
From thirty‑two thousand,
to ten thousand,
and finally only three hundred.
From a human perspective,
the fewer the people, the greater the danger.
But God intentionally reduced the number,
because He did not want Israel to think:
“It was by our own strength that we won.”
Sometimes,
God also does a “reducing work” in our lives.
Reducing the people we rely on,
reducing the visible securities we hold,
reducing the things that make us feel “confident.”
It is not that God has left.
Rather, He is reminding us:
True victory
does not come from our strength,
but from His presence with us.
And those three hundred
were not the most extraordinary men—
they were simply the ones who remained alert
even while drinking water.
They drank,
yet stayed aware of their surroundings.
What God values
is not only ability,
but also alertness and focus.
Many times,
the ones God uses
are not those with perfect qualifications,
but those willing to obey
and willing to stay watchful.
Three hundred
may seem far too few in human eyes;
but with God’s presence,
they are more than enough.
Because the true source of victory
has never been human numbers—
it has always been God’s presence.
