Our Plans Are Limited

Ruth 1:1-5

Because of the famine, Elimelech brought his family out of Bethlehem and went to live in Moab.

From a human perspective, it seemed like a reasonable decision. Where there was food, they went. Where life seemed safer, they stayed.

But what was meant to be temporary became ten years. During those years, Naomi’s husband died, and later both of her sons also died, leaving her alone.

Many times, we are like that too.

We think we are planning our future, yet we do not know what lies ahead. We think changing our environment will solve our problems, but life does not always move according to our plans.

Yet the beautiful thing about the book of Ruth is this: God did not stop working because of human limitations.

Although the story began with loss and sorrow, God was already preparing grace in the background. Later, Ruth met Boaz, and this broken journey eventually became part of the family line of King David.

People saw loss, but God saw a greater plan.

Sometimes we regret past decisions or struggle to understand certain seasons of life. But Ruth reminds us that even when our plans are limited, God’s grace can still continue.

Even after detours, God is still able to lead us back into His purpose.

Maybe today we still do not understand everything that is happening, but God has never stopped writing the story. Even after brokenness, He is still able to bring a new beginning.
