Zechariah 9:11
撒迦利亚这个名字 Zechariah(זְכַרְיָה),意思是:
5787
Zechariah 9:11
进入释放;
进入指望;
重新回到保障;
5787: He Remembers His Covenant
September 2, 2026 | Devotional Scripture: Zechariah 9:11–12
“As for you also, because of the blood of your covenant,
I will set your prisoners free from the waterless pit.
Return to your fortress, you prisoners of hope;
even now I announce that I will restore double to you.”
— Zechariah 9:11–12
The year 5787 is approaching.
What is especially interesting is that the Jewish year 5787 begins at sunset on September 11, 2026.
5787 — September 11.
And the Scripture we are reading today happens to be:
Zechariah 9:11
The name Zechariah (זְכַרְיָה) means:
“The LORD remembers.”
And in Zechariah 9:11, what God remembers is:
His covenant.
“Because of the blood of your covenant…
I will set your prisoners free from the waterless pit.”
Although God’s people were still facing captivity and imprisonment, God had not forgotten them.
Because the covenant still stood.
Circumstances may change.
Feelings may change.
Years may pass.
But the covenant God has established—
He has not forgotten.
And when God “remembers,” it does not simply mean that He recalls something.
When God remembers His covenant,
He acts.
He releases.
He restores.
He brings people out of the pit.
Even more precious is the name God gives them:
“Prisoners of hope.”
Although they are still prisoners,
they are not people without hope.
Their future is not determined by the “pit” they see before them.
Their future is determined by
the God who keeps His covenant.
For those of us under the New Covenant, the phrase “the blood of your covenant” also reminds us of the words of the Lord Jesus:
“This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.”
— Luke 22:20
Therefore, as we reflect on the approaching year 5787:
5787
September 11
Zechariah 9:11
it can become a special devotional reminder:
The LORD remembers.
He remembers His covenant.
He remembers His Word.
He remembers those who are still waiting for Him.
So even if today you still find yourself in a “waterless pit,”
do not mistake the pit for your final destination.
For God says:
“I will set your prisoners free from the waterless pit.”
Even if you are still waiting today,
do not lose hope.
Because God calls you:
“a prisoner of hope.”
Today’s Reflection
As you enter a new season,
do not assume that God has forgotten simply because you have waited for a long time.
He remembers His covenant.
From being trapped
to being released;
from disappointment
to hope;
from the waterless pit
back to the fortress;
from a long season of waiting
into the restoration God has prepared.
5787 —
He remembers.
He keeps His covenant.
He releases.
Today’s Prayer
Lord,
Thank You that You are the God who remembers and keeps His covenant.
When I still cannot see a way out,
help me to continue trusting Your Word.
Let me be
“a prisoner of hope,”
not fixing my eyes on the pit,
but fixing my eyes on the covenant You have established.
Through the covenant blood of Jesus Christ,
bring release, restoration, and renewal.
As I enter a new season,
help me to believe with confidence:
You have not forgotten.
You remember Your covenant.
You will bring release,
and You will fulfill Your Word.
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I pray,
Amen.
