God Has Already Heard and Will Prepare Our Hearts

Date: October 17, 2026

Scripture: Psalm 10:17

“O LORD, You have heard the desire of the humble; You will prepare their heart; You will cause Your ear to hear.” (Psalm 10:17, NKJV)

Devotional Reflection

This verse reveals three precious aspects of how God responds to prayer: He has already heard, He prepares our hearts, and He listens attentively.

First, God hears us even before we speak.

Sometimes, the desires of our hearts have not yet become words. We may not even know how to pray, yet God already knows. He hears not only the prayers we speak but also understands the deepest sighs of our hearts.

Second, God prepares not only the answer but also our hearts.

This is a particularly precious revelation in this verse. We often ask God to change our circumstances, but through prayer, He is also transforming us—making our hearts more humble, steadfast, and aligned with His will.

Third, God listens attentively to the prayers of the humble.

The expression “cause Your ear to hear” paints a beautiful picture of God’s loving attentiveness. He is not a distant or indifferent God, but One who draws near to those who humbly depend on Him.

Sometimes, when the answer has not yet appeared, it does not mean God has not heard. Perhaps before He changes our circumstances, He is preparing our hearts to receive what He is about to accomplish.

Today’s Reflection

Prayer is not merely asking God to fulfill our desires; it is also allowing Him to prepare our hearts so that His will may be accomplished.

While we are still waiting for answers, God is already at work. While we are still seeking direction, He is preparing the way.

God has already heard, and He is already preparing.
