Turning Away from Temptation
Date: 19 October 2026
Scripture: Proverbs 4:14–15 (KJV)
“Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.”
Devotional Reflection
When facing temptation, we often think that as long as our willpower is strong enough, getting a little closer will do no harm. Yet Proverbs reminds us: “Avoid it… turn from it.” True wisdom means knowing when to step away from a path that could lead us to stumble.
Many departures from God’s ways begin with a small compromise. A word that stirs up conflict, a desire we refuse to surrender, or a situation we know is wrong yet choose to remain in can gradually draw our hearts away from Him.
Turning away requires us to humbly acknowledge our weakness and trust that the path God leads us on is good. We can turn off inappropriate content, stop hurtful conversations, refuse dishonest gain, and establish boundaries that guard our hearts.
Today, let us ask God for discernment to turn away promptly from temptation and continue walking in a way that pleases Him.
Today’s Reflection
Am I moving closer to a path I know is wrong? What practical step can I take today to turn away?
