却不一定愿意改变;

📖 Scripture of the Day
James 1:23–25
“For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for he looks at himself and goes away and immediately forgets what he was like. But the one who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.”
✨ Devotional Meditation
We have all looked into a mirror.
A mirror doesn’t just show us our reflection;
it shows us what needs to be adjusted.
James says God’s Word is such a mirror.
It reveals who we truly are—
the places that need change,
the attitudes hidden beneath the surface,
the corners of our hearts we prefer not to face.
But the key is not whether we have seen,
but whether we respond after seeing.
Last night, I had a very vivid dream.
I walked into a tall office building—
a law firm on a high floor.
They needed me to sign a document.
I signed my name.
The lawyer kept the original,
and I left with a photocopy in my hand.
When I woke up, the image stayed with me.
It made me think:
Some responses are not just emotional;
they require a deliberate confirmation.
A signature represents a decision.
It doesn’t mean “I’ll think about it,”
but “I am willing.”
Many times, we are moved when we hear God’s Word.
In that moment, we feel touched, reminded, even eager to change.
But if we stop there,
we soon return to our old ways—
like someone who looks in a mirror
but makes no adjustment.
The dream reminded me:
Hearing truth is not just about being moved;
it is about making a real response.
And what struck me even more was this:
The original stayed there;
the copy went with me.
It made me realize—
a true response is not a fleeting feeling in the heart;
it must be carried into real life.
Not just a moment of emotion in a service,
not just a stirring during devotion,
but something lived out in daily choices.
James says:
“Not forgetting what they have heard,
but doing it.”
Perhaps today, God is not only giving you a word to hear,
but asking:
Are you willing to respond?
Maybe it is:
“Lord, I am willing to forgive.”
“Lord, I am willing to obey.”
“Lord, I am willing to let go of control.”
“Lord, I am willing to take that step.”
The truly blessed person
is not the one who hears the most,
but the one who responds—
and lives it out.
🙏 Prayer
Lord, thank You that Your Word is like a mirror to my soul.
So often I hear, yet do not truly respond.
I am easily moved,
but not always willing to change.
I understand the truth,
but do not always obey it.
Help me not to be one who hears and forgets,
but one who lives out what You have shown me.
If You are reminding me of something today,
give me the courage to respond.
Let me not only say, “I know,”
but truly say, “I am willing.”
May what I receive from You
not remain only in my heart,
but become a testimony in my life.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
