信心,是起点;
德行,让信仰不只是口号;
知识,让我们明白真理;
节制,让我们能约束自己;
忍耐,让我们在等待中不放弃;
虔敬,让我们的心真实敬畏神;
爱弟兄,让我们学习在属灵家庭中彼此相爱;
若我缺少节制,求祢给我力量;
若我正在等待中疲惫,求祢赐我忍耐;
The Stairway of Spiritual Growth
📅 2026.05.16
📖 Today’s Scripture
2 Peter 1:4–8
“Through these He has given us His very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires… For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
✨ Devotional Reflection
Many people think the destination of faith is simply, “I believe, so that’s enough.”
But Peter reminds us that faith is not meant to stop at the starting line—it is a journey of continual growth.
God has already given us His very great and precious promises. He has not only given salvation, but also the power for transformed living, so that we may leave behind the corruption of the old life and increasingly reflect His nature.
Spiritual growth is not about earning God’s love through effort. It is a response to the grace we have already received.
Peter describes a beautiful progression of spiritual growth:
Faith → Goodness → Knowledge → Self-control → Perseverance → Godliness → Brotherly kindness → Love
This is how spiritual maturity is built.
Faith is the beginning.
Goodness makes faith visible in our character.
Knowledge helps us understand truth.
Self-control teaches us to govern ourselves.
Perseverance helps us remain steady through difficulties.
Godliness keeps our hearts centered on God.
Brotherly kindness teaches us to love fellow believers.
Love expands that care to all people.
Many times, we want instant maturity—instant love, instant fruitfulness, instant transformation.
But God often shapes us step by step.
Growth does not happen overnight, but neither is spiritual stagnation God’s desire for us.
Peter says when these qualities are increasing in us, we will not become ineffective or unfruitful.
God does not want us to simply become people who know truth—He desires us to become people whose lives are truly transformed by it.
Today, ask yourself:
Where am I in this journey of growth?
Is there an area where God is inviting me to keep growing?
🌱 Prayer
Lord, thank You for giving me Your precious promises—not only for salvation, but also for the opportunity to be transformed and become more like You.
Help me not to remain where I am, satisfied with merely hearing truth without growing from it.
If I lack self-control, strengthen me.
If I am weary in waiting, give me perseverance.
If my love has grown cold, enlarge my heart again.
Shape me step by step into a life that is fruitful, faithful, and increasingly reflects Christ.
May my life grow to carry more of Your likeness.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
