🌿 Title: Between Fire and Light: Refined and Healed
📅 Date: April 24, 2026
📖 Scripture
👉 Book of Malachi 4:1–2
“For behold, the day is coming, burning like a furnace, when all the arrogant and all evildoers will be stubble. The day that is coming shall set them ablaze, says the LORD of hosts, so that it will leave them neither root nor branch.
But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings. You shall go out leaping like calves from the stall.”
⸻
✨ Devotional Reflection
These two verses present a powerful contrast: the same “day,” yet some encounter fire while others receive light. The furnace represents refining and exposure, while the light represents healing and restoration. It is not two different times, but the same moment bringing completely different outcomes. The key is not the situation, but the posture of the heart.
⸻
✨ Spiritual Insight
The “burning furnace” is not random destruction, but a complete revealing and cleansing. Pride, self-centeredness, and what is not aligned with truth cannot stand in the light. Then the scene shifts: “the sun of righteousness rises.” This light does not only expose—it heals. The word “rays” can also mean “wings,” suggesting a covering, protecting, and gentle healing presence. This shows us: to those who resist, the light feels like fire; to those who turn toward it, the light feels like wings.
⸻
✨ Life Response
We all stand between fire and light. Some things in us need refining—pride, pretense, and what is not real. Yet other parts are waiting to be healed—wounds, weakness, and weariness. The question is not whether that day will come, but how we respond when the light appears. The same light can expose, or it can restore.
⸻
🙏 Prayer
Lord, when Your light comes, do not let me hide. Refine everything in me that is not true, and burn away what does not belong. At the same time, cover me with Your gentle light and heal the deepest places within me. Let me not fear Your light, but desire to be fully seen and transformed. So that on that day, I will not be consumed, but renewed, released, and able to leap with joy. Amen.
