六年多前，我做了一个关于教会、圣经、属灵传承与神荣耀的梦。
梦中，我看见几个很普通的人，神亲自呼召、拣选他们，以神学知识和真理装备他们，并一路带领他们。
他们所经历的，不只是对神知识上的增加，更是在跟随中亲身经历祂，与祂建立越来越亲密的关系。这使他们愿意全心回应神的呼召，把生命完全摆上，尽心尽力地奉献自己，一同建立一间单单荣耀神的教会。
两本圣经｜传承与活泼的话语
梦中，我看见两本圣经。
一本非常古老，是从上一代传承下来的，被埋在教会祭坛的位置，成为教会根基的一部分。
另一本则是现代、活泼的，里面有许多注解，成为教会教导、装备和带领人的重要依据。
当时的我并不知道，多年以后，我竟会在现实中遇见一个与这个梦产生呼应的画面。
百年圣经被重新发现
2024年，卫理公会直落亚逸礼拜堂（Telok Ayer Chinese Methodist Church，TACMC）在修复这座百年教堂时，取出了一个于1924年放置在奠基石附近的时间囊。
时间囊于2024年2月7日被取出，并在2月14日打开。
其中有一本古老的中文《圣经》，由英国圣经公会赠送，并在中国福州印刷。此外，还有教会法规、圣诗集、会议记录、礼仪文件、报纸以及奠基声明等。
这成为一个很具体的画面：一个世代将他们的信仰、神的话与属灵产业保存下来，留给另一个世代。
发现旧的，托付新的
2025年5月3日，修复后的教堂重新奉献。TACMC制作了一个新的时间囊，并将它放回第一枚时间囊被发现的同一个空间。
新的时间囊里再次放入了一本《圣经》——这一次是一部双语圣经；同时也放入这一代的教会文件、圣诗集、会议记录、报纸、财务报告，以及写给未来教会的信。
这一幕让我想到梦中的两本圣经：
1924 —— 放入一本圣经
2024 —— 百年圣经被重新发现
2025 —— 再放入一本新的圣经，托付给未来的世代
真理本身并没有改变，但每一个世代都需要重新领受、忠心活出来，并继续传承下去。
今天回看这个梦，这两本圣经让我看见一种延续：
承接历代传下来的信仰，让神活泼的话语继续在这一代被传讲、被活出来。
17/18｜神的话 · 差遣 · 荣耀
梦中还有一个很清楚的细节：这间教会的位置是 17/18。
今天重新思想时，圣经中三处 17:18 特别引起我的注意。
申命记 17:18｜WORD · 神的话
「……将……这律法书，为自己抄录一本。」
神的话是根基。
约翰福音 17:18｜MISSION · 差遣
「你怎样差我到世上，我也照样差他们到世上。」
神所呼召、装备的人，祂也差遣他们出去。
路加福音 17:18｜GLORY · 荣耀
「……回来归荣耀与神……」
最终的目的不是人的名声，而是神的荣耀。
三处经文形成一条简单的主线：
WORD · 神的话 → MISSION · 差遣 → GLORY · 荣耀
梦中最后还有一个让我印象很深的细节：
只有站在 17/18这个位置，才能看见一座与「荣耀」有关的建筑；换了位置，就看不见了。
六年后的今天，这给我一个很简单的提醒：
重要的不是追逐荣耀，而是站在神所安排的位置。
忠心承接前人所传下来的，在这一代活出来，再忠心托付给后来的人。
根基仍然不变，
世代不断更替；
使命继续向前，
荣耀单单归神。

神的话是根基，
神的差遣是使命，
神的荣耀是目的。
17/18 | Reflecting on This Dream Six Years Later

More than six years ago, I had a dream about the Church, the Bible, spiritual heritage, and the glory of God.
In the dream, I saw several ordinary people whom God called and chose. He personally equipped them with theological knowledge and truth and led them along the way.
Their journey was not merely about gaining knowledge of God, but about experiencing Him personally and growing in intimacy with Him. This moved them to respond wholeheartedly to His call, surrender their lives, and devote themselves to building a church that would glorify God alone.
Two Bibles | Heritage and the Living Word
In the dream, I saw two Bibles.
One was very old, passed down from a previous generation and buried at the place of the church altar as part of its foundation.
The other was modern and vibrant, filled with notes and commentaries, and used to teach, equip, and guide the church.
At the time, I had no idea that years later I would encounter a remarkable real-life picture that echoed this dream.
A Century-Old Bible Rediscovered
In 2024, during the restoration of the century-old Telok Ayer Chinese Methodist Church (TACMC), a time capsule placed near the foundation stone in 1924 was recovered.
It was extracted on 7 February 2024 and opened on 14 February.
Among its contents was an old Chinese Bible, donated by the British and Foreign Bible Society and printed in Foochow, China. It was preserved alongside the Methodist Book of Discipline, a hymnal, conference records, liturgical documents, newspapers, and a foundation declaration.
It was a tangible picture of one generation preserving its faith, the Word of God, and its spiritual heritage for another generation.
Rediscovering the Old, Entrusting the New
On 3 May 2025, when the restored church building was rededicated, TACMC placed a new time capsule in the same space where the original capsule had been discovered.
Inside was another Bible—this time a bilingual Bible—together with church documents, hymnals, records, newspapers, financial reports, and letters addressed to the church of the future.
The parallel with my dream struck me:
1924 — A Bible was placed.
2024 — The old Bible was rediscovered.
2025 — A new Bible was entrusted to a future generation.
The truth itself does not change. Yet every generation must receive it afresh, live it out faithfully, and pass it on.
Looking back at my dream today, the two Bibles speak to me of this continuity: an ancient faith faithfully inherited, and the living Word faithfully taught in the present generation.
17/18 | WORD · MISSION · GLORY
Another clear detail in the dream was the location of the church: 17/18.
Today, three passages numbered 17:18 stand out to me.
Deuteronomy 17:18 | WORD
“…he is to write for himself on a scroll a copy of this law…”
God’s Word is the foundation.
John 17:18 | MISSION
“As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.”
Those whom God calls and equips, He also sends.
Luke 17:18 | GLORY
“…returned to give glory to God…”
The purpose is not human recognition, but God’s glory.
Together they form a simple progression:
WORD → MISSION → GLORY
There was one final detail in the dream that remains especially significant to me: only from the 17/18 position could I see a building associated with “Glory.” From another position, it could not be seen.
Six years later, this leaves me with a simple reflection:
The goal is not to pursue glory, but to stand where God has positioned us.
We receive what has been faithfully handed down, live it faithfully in our generation, and entrust it to those who come after us.
The foundation remains.
The generations change.
The mission continues.
The glory belongs to God.

God’s Word is the foundation.
God’s sending is the mission.
God’s glory is the purpose.
