The Fountain of Life Flowing from God’s Temple

Date: October 28, 2026

Today’s Scripture | Joel 3:18

“And it will come to pass in that day that the mountains shall drip with sweet wine, the hills shall flow with milk, and all the brooks of Judah shall be flooded with water; a fountain shall flow from the house of the LORD and water the Valley of Acacias.”

Devotional Reflection

What a beautiful picture of revival!

The mountains drip with sweet wine, the hills flow with milk, dry streams are filled with water again, and even the barren Valley of Acacias receives refreshing water.

What the prophet Joel describes is not merely the restoration of the land’s abundance, but the life, prosperity, and blessings that come when the relationship between God and His people is restored.

Earlier in the Book of Joel, we see locusts devouring crops, the land becoming desolate, and the people facing loss and judgment. Yet God does not allow desolation to be the end of the story.

God calls His people to return to Him and promises to restore the years they have lost.

True revival does not begin with a change in circumstances, but with people returning to the presence of God.

There is a particularly important detail in this verse:

“A fountain shall flow from the house of the LORD.”

The fountain does not originate from the mountains, nor is it produced by human effort. It flows from the very presence of God.

This reminds us of Ezekiel 47, where the prophet sees water flowing from the temple. The water becomes deeper and deeper, eventually forming a river that brings life wherever it flows.

Jesus also declared:

“Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” (John 7:38)

The living water Jesus spoke about refers to the work of the Holy Spirit.

God does not simply want us to be refreshed ourselves. He also desires our lives to become channels of blessing to others.

One particularly meaningful detail is the Valley of Acacias.

The Valley of Acacias is commonly understood as a dry and barren valley. Yet even such a desolate place can be refreshed by the fountain flowing from God.

This reminds us that some lives resemble dry valleys, where joy, hope, and direction have been lost. Some families experience brokenness, while certain relationships seem impossible to restore.

Yet even in places that appear hopeless to human eyes, God is still able to bring new life.

When the fountain of life flows from God’s presence, desolation is no longer the final destination. It can become the starting point of revival.

Today’s Reflection

* Is my life still connected to God, the fountain of living water, or am I relying only on my own strength?

* Is there an area of my life that resembles a dry valley, waiting to be refreshed by God?

* Is God calling me not only to receive His blessings, but also to become a channel of living water that refreshes others?

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for being the source of all life and abundance.

Even when our lives have experienced dryness, loss, and desolation, You still promise restoration and renewal.

Lord, remove everything that blocks the flow of Your living water within us, and let the Holy Spirit flow freely through our lives once again.

Help us not only to receive Your grace, but also to become channels of Your blessings.

May Your living water flow into our families, churches, and communities. Strengthen those who are weary, restore hope to those who are discouraged, and cause barren places to blossom and bear fruit once again.

May every genuine revival begin in Your presence.

In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

Today’s Reminder:

Revival is not something we can manufacture through human effort. It begins when our lives are reconnected to God, the fountain of living water. When His living water flows, even the driest valley can become a place overflowing with life.
