To Walk with God, We Must Be in Agreement with Him

Date: 29 October 2026

Today’s Scripture | Amos 3:3

“Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?”

Devotional Reflection

We often pray for God to walk with us, guide our steps, and bless everything we do. But have we ever stopped to ask ourselves whether the path we are taking is truly the one God wants us to follow?

During the time of Amos, the Israelites still called themselves God’s people and continued to offer sacrifices and worship Him. Yet their lives had gradually drifted away from His will. They pursued wealth, neglected justice, and even oppressed the poor.

Through the prophet Amos, God reminded them:

“Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?”

In the original Hebrew, this verse also carries the idea of two people agreeing to meet and walk together. In the context of the chapter, it reminds us that being in a covenant relationship with God calls us to respond faithfully to His Word.

Sometimes, we want God to fit into our plans, forgetting to seek His will first. We ask Him to bless our decisions without first asking whether those decisions are pleasing to Him.

Truly walking with God does not mean asking Him to follow our footsteps. It means being willing to change our direction and follow His leading.

Being in agreement with God does not mean we fully understand all His plans. Rather, it means trusting Him even when we do not understand, and choosing to obey when our own desires conflict with His Word.

The key to walking with God is not whether He is willing to walk with us, but whether we are willing to walk in His ways.

Today’s Reflection

Am I inviting God to join my plans, or am I willing to let Him lead my life?

When God’s will differs from my own desires, am I willing to adjust my steps?

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for being willing to guide my life. Give me a humble and obedient heart, one that seeks not only Your blessings but also desires to understand Your will.

Help me surrender my own stubbornness and align my thoughts, decisions, and steps with Your purposes.

May I not merely speak of following You, but truly live each day walking closely with You.

In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.
