🌿 God Is Able — Even If Not

📖 Daniel 3:16–18
“Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king, ‘O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.’”
✨ Devotion
When faced with King Nebuchadnezzar’s threat, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego did not panic, nor did they try to defend themselves.
They simply said, “We have no need to answer you in this matter.”
It was not because they had nothing to say, but because their decision was already clear. They knew whom they believed in, and they knew where they stood.
Then they made a powerful declaration:
“Our God is able to deliver us.”
They believed that God had the power to save them and that He was sovereign over every circumstance.
Yet the most remarkable words came next:
“But if not…”
Their faith was not based on God acting according to their expectations. Their faith was rooted in the certainty that God is always worthy of trust.
Even if the fire was not removed,
even if the situation did not change,
even if the outcome was not what they hoped for,
they would remain faithful.
Many times, our prayers focus on asking God to change our circumstances. But often, God is more concerned with whether we will continue to trust Him in the midst of those circumstances.
Mature faith is not merely believing that God can do something. It is trusting that God is good, even when we do not know how the story will end.
🙏 Prayer
Lord, thank You that You are the Almighty God. You are able to save, deliver, and make a way where there seems to be no way. Give me the faith of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego—not only to believe that You can, but also to trust You when I do not understand. Whatever the circumstance and whatever the outcome, help me remain faithful and steadfast in following You. In Jesus’ name, Amen. 🙏
