🌿 The Beloved Draws You with His Song
📅 12/6/26
📖 Scripture
Song of Songs 2:8–10
“Listen! My beloved!
Look! Here he comes,
leaping across the mountains,
bounding over the hills.
My beloved is like a gazelle
or a young stag.
Look! There he stands behind our wall,
gazing through the windows,
peering through the lattice.
My beloved spoke and said to me,
‘Arise, my darling,
my beautiful one, come with me.’”
✨ Devotional
This morning when I woke up, I remembered a dream from last night.
In the dream, a pastor with a prophetic gift was sharing the gospel with visitors at a gathering. He accurately spoke their names and even mentioned the songs they liked. Then he said:
“The Beloved knew you would come here today, so He came here especially to look for you.”
After I woke up, those words remained in my heart.
Many times, we think that we are the ones seeking God, that we are the ones deciding to come before Him. Yet Scripture often reveals a deeper truth:
It is He who first comes looking for us.
From God calling out to Adam in the Garden of Eden, “Where are you?” to Jesus saying, “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost” (Luke 19:10), the Bible continually shows us that God always takes the initiative to come to people.
In the Song of Songs, the Beloved does not wait from afar. Instead, He actively comes “leaping across the mountains and bounding over the hills.” No matter how high the mountains or how long the journey, He is willing to overcome every obstacle to come to the one He loves.
When we are weary, discouraged, or even close the door of our hearts, He still waits outside. When we feel far away from Him, He is already standing behind the wall, looking through the window and gently calling our name.
He not only calls us—He draws us with the voice of love.
The Beloved’s voice is like a song of love, softly singing into our hearts. He does not lead us by force but draws us with love. He does not drive us with condemnation but calls us with tenderness.
He says:
“My darling, my beautiful one,
arise and come with me.”
This is an invitation of love and a call to renewed life.
When we hear His voice, our hearts awaken again. When we respond to His call, our steps are strengthened once more.
Perhaps you think that today you came to a gathering, to church, or into God’s presence. But from a deeper perspective,
the Beloved already knew your steps and was waiting for you before you arrived.
He seeks you, and He sings over you.
He draws you with the voice of His love and invites you to walk with Him.
🙏 Prayer
Lord, thank You that You are not a distant God but the Beloved who actively seeks me. Thank You for knowing my name, understanding my story, and seeing the deepest needs of my heart. Open my ears so that I may hear Your voice. Open my heart so that I may respond to Your call. Help me remember each day that I did not love You first, but that You loved me first. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
🌱 Reflection
Today, is there something in your life that reminds you:
It was not you who first sought God, but God who had already come leaping across the mountains to find you, drawing you with His loving voice to walk with Him. 🌿✨
