“至于淫乱，并一切污秽，或是贪婪，在你们中间连提都不可，方合圣徒的体统。”

“有贪心的，就与拜偶像的一样。”

贪心往往不是从“我要很多”开始，而是从一句很简单的话开始：

“如果我再有一点，就好了。”

多一点钱、多一点成就、多一点拥有、多一点人的肯定。我们以为得到以后就会满足，可是得到之后，很快又会出现下一个“想要”。

所以保罗把贪心与拜偶像连在一起。

因为偶像不一定是看得见的雕像。任何东西，只要它在我们心中的位置超过了神，成为我们安全感、满足感和价值感的来源，就可能成为偶像。

问题不只是：“我拥有多少？”
更重要的是：“什么正在拥有我的心？”

神并不是反对我们拥有丰富，而是不要丰富成为我们的主人。

知足也不是停止追求进步，而是在追求的过程中，心仍然能够说：

“主啊，即使没有更多，有你，我仍然满足。”

当我们开始数算已经领受的恩典，而不是不断计算自己还缺少什么，贪心便渐渐失去力量，感恩开始进入我们的心。

今日默想

我最近有没有一样东西，让我觉得“非得到不可”？
如果神暂时没有给我，我是否仍能因祂而喜乐？

祷告

主啊，求你鉴察我的心，显明里面隐藏的贪心。不要让我被“更多”辖制，也不要让我把金钱、拥有、成就或人的肯定放在你的位置上。教我在丰富中感恩，在缺乏中知足，使我的心能够真正说：主啊，有你就够了。奉主耶稣的名，阿们。

Beware of Greed — Don’t Let “More” Become an Idol

Scripture: Ephesians 5:3, 5

“But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.”

“No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.”

Devotion

Greed often does not begin with, “I want a lot.”
It begins with a much simpler thought:

“If only I had a little more, things would be better.”

A little more money, a little more success, a few more possessions, a little more recognition from others. We think that once we get it, we will finally be satisfied. But soon after receiving it, another desire for “more” appears.

This is why Paul connects greed with idolatry.

An idol is not necessarily a visible statue. Anything that takes God’s place in our hearts and becomes the source of our security, satisfaction, or sense of worth can become an idol.

The question is not simply: “How much do I possess?”
The deeper question is: “What possesses my heart?”

God is not against us having abundance. He simply does not want abundance to become our master.

Contentment does not mean that we stop growing or pursuing what is good. It means that even while pursuing these things, our hearts can still say:

“Lord, even if I do not receive more, I am still satisfied because I have You.”

When we begin counting the blessings we have already received instead of constantly counting what we still lack, greed gradually loses its power, and gratitude begins to fill our hearts.

Today’s Reflection

Is there something I have been wanting so badly that I feel I must have it?

If God does not give it to me yet, can I still rejoice and be satisfied in Him?

Prayer

Lord, search my heart and reveal any hidden greed within me. Do not allow me to be controlled by the desire for “more,” and do not let money, possessions, achievements, or the approval of others take Your place in my heart.

Teach me to be grateful in abundance and content in times of lack, so that my heart can truly say:

“Lord, having You is enough.”
